What to Bring

Your complete packing checklist for a golf safari in the Serengeti — covering equipment, dress code, safari essentials, and fly-in luggage tips.

Golf Equipment

On the Course

Golf clubs

Bring your own or rent TaylorMade/Callaway sets on-site. Fly-in safaris have strict luggage limits — consider renting.

Golf shoes

Soft spikes only. Bring two pairs if possible — morning dew on the Serengeti can soak through quickly.

Golf gloves (3-4)

Humidity and sun dry out gloves fast. Bring extras.

Golf balls (2 dozen)

Premium balls are not sold at the pro shop. Bring your preferred brand.

Rangefinder or GPS

The course has limited distance markers. A rangefinder is invaluable at altitude.

Tees and ball markers

Standard wooden tees and a few magnetic markers.

Dress Code

On-Course Attire

The Serengeti NP Golf Course maintains a smart-casual dress code consistent with international championship standards.

  • Collared polo shirts (no sleeveless tops)
  • Tailored shorts or long trousers (no denim, no cargo shorts)
  • Soft-spike golf shoes (no metal spikes)
  • Golf cap or hat encouraged
  • Smart casual in the clubhouse after your round
Safari Essentials

Off the Course

Binoculars

Essential for game viewing between shots and on safari drives.

Sun hat or cap

The equatorial sun is intense. A wide-brimmed hat protects neck and ears.

High-SPF sunscreen

SPF 50+ water-resistant. Reapply every 2 hours.

Insect repellent

DEET-based for evenings. The course itself is generally breeze-swept.

Light rain jacket

Quick tropical showers are possible even in dry season.

Neutral-coloured safari clothing

Khaki, olive, tan. Avoid white (dust) and dark blue/black (attracts tsetse flies).

Sturdy walking shoes

For bush walks, lodge grounds, and uneven terrain.

Headlamp or small torch

Lodge paths can be dark. Some lodges provide these.

Fly-In Luggage Tips

Packing for Bush Planes

!

Soft-sided bags only for fly-in safaris

Bush planes have strict weight limits (15-20kg) and cannot accommodate hard cases. Use a soft duffel.

!

Ship clubs ahead if flying in

We can arrange delivery of your clubs to the clubhouse before your arrival via Arusha.

!

Rent rather than bring

For fly-in guests, renting clubs eliminates weight stress entirely. TaylorMade M6 and Callaway Rogue sets are available.

!

Pack light, layer smart

Mornings are cool (12-15C), midday is warm (25-30C). Layers let you adapt without over-packing.
